Hi, everyone!

After a long time working on it, a new update for The Trespasser is available for download and uh... it's a big one!

Graphics Improvements

The first thing you may notice is that the graphics received a general overhaul. Lighting effects are now more pronounced, with starker lights and glowy things. The game animation's also received some love, from the player's sprites to everything else in the world. Just look at this spider:

It feels more alive, doesn't it?

New Region

But the biggest addition of this new extension is the Ice Caves region. See the pale blue zone at the bottom of the map? It's brand new!

The Ice Caves is an optional area that can be reached from the Temple of Madness. As you can see, it's pretty big.

Why should you venture to the depths of this frozen, hostile palace? Well, it's full of loot, to begin with: two new rings (with nice combat-related effects), one new suit, a new weapon and an upgrade to the Spider Form ability! That's a lot for a single biome.

Say hello to the Flamethrower: a new weapon that shoots continuously and allows you to melt ice. You will need it to progress in this region, but it's also super useful to melt enemies.

Speaking of enemies, notice how those big monsters got an upgrade? They now have shields to protect them from your attacks. You gotta sneak in their back if you hope to take them down:

You may also wonder what's up with the Protagonist's New Clothes? This suit lets you navigate ice more easily, and if you played my previous metroidvania, The Lightkeeper, it may look familiar!

The Trespasser has always been intended as a spiritual sequel of sorts to The Lightkeeper, taking place in the same world. But this new extension takes it to a whole new level, featuring a stronger connective tissue between the two, with plenty of lore to discover! It also sheds light on the identity of a mysterious NPC mentioned in the base game, who may have a side quest for you.

Did I mention there's two new bosses to fight? Actually, you know what? I'm gonna let you discover the rest on your own! There's plenty of surprises waiting for you in this new region, and even the base game is much improved by this update.
