Lost Paradise 1.0.2

Happy new year everyone!

Last time I promised there would be further improvements coming to Lost Paradise, and this new version is proof of that. What changed in version 1.0.2, you ask?

  • The game has a better ending! It was never my intention to end the game on a long cutscene or anything, but I have to admit the original ending was a bit abrupt even by my standards. Don't you know, making a full game in a month is very challenging! So I took the time to flesh it out a little. You now get a bit more space to wind down after the final battle and you also get a few hand-drawn illustrations for your trouble. And maybe an extra-one if you went to the extra-trouble of reaching 100% completion. But I will let you discover that on your own ;)
  • I also improved the detailed minimap. Many Metroidvanias are set indoors but not Lost Paradise, so I needed a better way to represent open air on the map. Just because there's no ceiling above your head doesn't mean you can fly in the sky and leave the confines of the game, but it may not be super obvious when you're looking at the map. Now, dotted lines make it obvious what is the end of the world versus what's an opening to a space you have yet to explore.
  • The wall sliding and jumping should be a bit easier to pull off. You need to press the direction against the wall to slide against it, but you have to change direction to jump, so the timing could be a bit tricky. It's now a bit more lenient: once you're sliding, you keep going for a little time even if you change direction.
  • Prompt text for actions got a black outline to be more readable against white walls.
  • And I fixed a few ways to get stuck.

That's it! Again, thank you to everyone who tried it out and gave me feedback. It's definitely appreciated.

And to the others, well... now is the perfect time to get the game (it's free!) ;)
