A downloadable tool for Windows

Description

Exporting all the poses and expressions of a 2D character's sprite can be time consuming. Especially when you have to do it all over again because you changed a little detail...

GrimAce is a free Windows tool for automating that export. GrimAce can open Photoshop files (PSD) and allow you to define your poses and expressions by choosing which layers to export for each. All of that work is saved to a configuration file, so you don't have to do it again.

Then it's a simple as pressing a button. Or using the command-line utility.

Development

This is still very early in the development, and there's a lot of work to be done.
My main priorities are the following:

  • User-Experience: the amount of polish, the UI design, making things easier, more robust, quicker to use, etc.
  • Compatibility: supporting more edge cases, making sure no exotic PSD file can crash the app, handling masks 100% correctly, etc.
  • Performances: loading the files faster, rendering them faster, spreading the work over multiple cores, etc.

You can follow my progress on the public Trello board: https://trello.com/b/hTuIMdoT/grimace

Also, make sure you subscribe to my itch.io account, so you can receive a notification when a new update is available!

Hope it helps! :)
